FAQ
Q: how did the pourtal start?
A: The Pourtal has been 20 years in the making. Lifetime wine guys, Nick Ramkowsky and Ed Lehrman got their wine careers started early. Nick began working at North Berkeley Wine Shop while attending UC Berkeley while Ed started collecting wine as a hobby and storing it in the bottom 2 drawers of his dorm dresser at Duke University. While on a trip visiting wineries in Mendoza, Argentina, Ed and Nick realized they had to introduce America to the best wines from the world’s 5th largest (but still fairly unknown) wine producing country. They decided to form and launch Vine Connections, which pioneered the first nationally-imported portfolio of artisan wines from Argentina. Eventually Ed and Nick added premium Japanese sake and Chilean wines to the portfolio.
Throughout the years, Ed, Nick, and the Vine Connections team has taken countless trips to South America for work, as well as hosting trade and industry trips. Year after year, the lucky few who got to come on these trips could not stop raving about the experience Vine Connections gave them. After a lot of talk, The Pourtal was born to allow us to bring our travel and wine experience to everyone.
Q: can you ship wine to all 50 states?
A: We are unable to ship to P.O. mailboxes or to the following states: Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Utah. Shipping is only available in the continental US. Pourtal cannot ship outside the continental US, to US territories, or to Armed Forces outside the continental US.
Q: What is your cancellation policy for trips?
